Consilia - Ideas

. . . Collegium aedifica!

Here you can pass along ideas or things you've found that relate to Latin. To do so, simply add a comment below. You can also respond to other people's comments--maybe you've seen the same website and have found a new feature; maybe someone has a question and you have the answer; . . . . Build the Guild!

Hope you're all having lovley summers
I just decided to drop in and post something amazingly awesome.

I feel as if i should post this in latin... but i am so excited that words fail me, so im going to stick with english...

Last night the BET Awards 2009 aired (in memory of The King of Pop... Michael Jackson) during the show, Beyonce performed a song from her new album (I Am Sasha Fierce) titled Ave Maria...

the last few lines of the song were sung in Latin (the arrangement was a little different than the original version)

    Ave Maria
    Gratia plena
    Maria gratia plena
    Maria gratia plena
    Ave, ave dominus tecum

    so it basically translates
    Hail Mary
    Full of grace
    Mary full of grace
    Mary full of grace
Hail, hail the lord is with you (thee)

I think it's pretty cool that Beyonce didn't just perform her own rendition of Ave Maria, but that she also kept a little bit of Latin in it..(even if it was just a couple of lines)

so i just looked up the beyonce song and it's amazing. really, i wanted to cry. but i couldn't because i'm in advisory and james coll is sitting next to me and he would be like what the crap is wrong with you?
anyway, i was just being a good latin student and doing my homework (30 mins of something latin-related) and yeah[:
this blog is actually really nice. i was looking at some of the other latin blogs and ours is by far the best. which is only to be expected, since we are the best latin class ever.
okay, that's it! salve(te)! (i was debating whether to put "salve" or "salvete" because it was only directed toward Karyn, but a lot of people could be read this...)
